I had a fabulous holiday on the Island this year: saw the family every day, cycled every day, had good journeys both north and south in the car.  It was good to spend some time with Gary and Caren, and Jackie, great to see Jan and Ge, and of course great to see Sam having lots of fun. Here's to the next time!

Isle of Wight road trip

Well that was just the best holiday I've had in ages. A road trip to the Isle of Wight, starting with a stopover at Dave and Debbie's in East Kilbride, then two fantastic days in Liverpool at the Albert Dock. A long drive south and I'm on the Island for seven nights at the Hermitage, Totland Bay. Thoroughly recommended, especially the full English breakfast! Isle of Wight update

Well, there we all were for Gary's 40th birthday. It was great to see him looking so good, and I noticed that he's inherited the Yates family trait of early gret hair. His silver streaks make him look very distinguished.

It was superb, too, to be able to show Jan and Ge around some parts of the Island that they hadn't seen before. We had a brisk, and very windy, walk along Ventnor front, before tucking in to a full English at a seafront caff, and a mellow walk around the botanic gardens. I'm looking forward to the next time, perhaps when it's just a wee bit warmer!

Ryde Castle Hotel, summer of '68. We were the Saturday resident band, supporting acts like Arthur Brown, PP Arnold and the Nice, Family, Spooky Tooth and more.
